Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support for Dorsey’s pro bono program, particularly in Dorsey’s regional office locations.
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with the pro bono team to support firmwide strategies and goals.
- Assist in identifying, launching, and staffing pro bono projects across all offices.
- Support coordination and leadership of large-scale, multi-office initiatives.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with legal service organizations and external pro bono leaders in Dorsey office markets, to identify and collaborate on projects.
- Introduce new and lateral attorneys to Dorsey’s pro bono culture, policies, and opportunities.
- Track attorney engagement to ensure new and existing attorneys are connected with meaningful pro bono projects.
- Identify pro bono matters aligned with individual attorney interests and match attorneys with suitable projects and necessary training.
- Engage with the Summer Associate program to connect summer associates with pro bono work and mentoring opportunities.
- Serve as a resource for attorneys and legal assistants for the file opening process to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm protocols.
- Track and follow up with departing attorneys to ensure matters are transferred or closed before departure.
- Assist with developing and maintaining systems for internal and external reporting, including data for surveys, recognition programs, and firmwide metrics.
- Review pro bono reports regularly to identify trends and encourage offices to meet goals.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of office pro bono celebrations and presentations.
- Monitor and track pro bono-related expenses.
- Identify and manage opportunities for pro bono awards and recognition for attorneys and offices.
- Coordinate nominations and submissions to bar associations and other organizations.
- Attend and report at pro bono team meetings, and participate in pro bono events and conferences as needed and approved.
- May perform other duties not mentioned above.
The Successful Candidate
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least 2 years of related experience, preferably in a law firm or legal services organization.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills; attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively with all levels of attorneys and business professionals, both external and internal.
- Ability to demonstrate calm, tact, and diplomacy while working in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations, and maintaining client and firm confidentiality.
- Proficient in time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
