Pro Bono Sector Impact Toolkit
Published on 11 September 2026 A new practical guide from the National Pro Bono Centre (NPBC) and National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) to help measure the impact of your organisation's legal pro bono work.

The Pro Bono Sector Impact Toolkit has been created to assist organisations in the legal pro bono sector to measure and demonstrate the impact of their work. While designed with pro bono projects in mind, it also contains resources useful to all those supporting access to justice including advice organisations, law centres, law firms, and those engaged in policy influencing.

The National Pro Bono Centre (NPBC) led the development of the toolkit in tandem with a wide range of organisations and individuals and with the support of specialists at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). It was piloted by LawWorks and University House.

The toolkit is available from this page for free download, and organisations can now also register their interest in a subsidised six-month course which will guide participants through putting it into practice.

"We wanted to better understand the difference our work is making across the organisation, both for the people we support and for those delivering pro bono services. Developing a clearer approach to impact measurement has helped us articulate our value, strengthen our learning, and ensure we are focusing our efforts where they have the greatest effect.”– Hayley Nock, Head of Strategic Development, LawWorks
