19th Annual Performance Report of the National Pro Bono Target

Published on 15 October 2026 The Australian Pro Bono Centre has published its 19th Annual Performance Report of the National Pro Bono Target, reflecting a 5.1% rise in pro bono hours in the last financial year. 

Another record year for pro bono in Australia. 
 
Our 19th Annual Performance Report of the National Pro Bono Target reveals continued growth of pro bono legal services across the country. Signatories delivered a record 887,910 hours of pro bono legal services in FY2026, up 5.1% on the previous year.

Other highlights include:  
📈 43.2 pro bono hours per lawyer on average, well above the 35-hour Target 
✅ 57.8% of signatories met or exceeded their respective Targets 
👥 A record 20,685 FTE lawyers were covered by the Target 
🤝Signatories assisted 15,016 individuals and 4,553 organisations through their pro bono work
