Chalk & Behrendt is a majority Aboriginal owned and controlled, Supply Nation certified, legal and consulting practice which is based in Sydney but serves clients throughout Australia. Ours is a profit-for-purpose practice that, for over 20 years, has focused extensively on meeting the needs of Indigenous Australians and their organisations in areas that include land rights, native title, cultural heritage, agreementmaking, environmental and planning law, administrative law, business formation, governance and compliance, policy development, conflict management and dispute resolution.

Jason is an Indigenous lawyer with 20 years’ experience as a legal practitioner in the areas of administrative law, Aboriginal land rights, native title, environmental planning and cultural heritage. He is currently the Chair of the Aboriginal Languages Trust established under the Aboriginal Languages Act 2017 (NSW).

Jason is also Chair of the Indigenous Issues Committee and the Law Society of New South Wales, a member of the Indigenous Issues Committee of the Law Council of Australia, a member of the Ngura Yura Committee of the Judicial Commission of New South Wales and a member of the Native Title Advisory Committee of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. In 2019 Jason was awarded the Law Society of NSW’s President’s Medal for his contribution to the development of law and policy affecting Indigenous Australians during the past two decades.
