Model Laws

Published on 1 January 2023 This website provides model laws that can be adopted by all levels of government and the private sector to drastically reduce fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Linked from this page are model laws that have been drafted for the Legal Pathways to Deep Decarbonization Project by our team of pro bono attorneys. They have all also been peer reviewed by outside experts, and modified as needed to reflect the peer review comments. Users, with aid of counsel, will need to customize these model laws to suit their particular jurisdiction.
