The Successful Candidate
Management of pro bono matters: sourcing opportunities, finding internal resource for them and managing strategic external relationships
- Managing relationship with brokers
- Creating bids for projects with the above brokers and liaising with internal Pro Bono Champions to find volunteers.
- Engagement with internal and external stakeholders on pro bono initiatives
Management of client pro bono projects and relationships
- Maintaining relationships with key clients and collaborating with them on pro bono activities
- Completing client pitch information
- Providing expert advice and guidance on pro bono to clients
Internal engagement and communication
- Creating and sending out the Weekly Pro Bono Opportunities email
- Working with the communication and social media teams to draft content on pro bono
- Maintaining and updating the firm’s pro bono resources (e.g. Horizon page, Pro Bono Guide)
- Maintaining high levels of lawyer engagement and developing creative strategies to increase participation in pro bono across the firm
- Prepare and deliver presentations on the pro bono practice internally and externally
External engagement and leadership
- Represent CMS at external events, conferences and networks and contribute to thought leadership
- Drafting pro bono awards submissions and content for external surveys
- Organising pro bono events for internal/external audiences (e.g. Pro Bono Week events, Pro Bono Insight evenings)
Overall programme management
- Assessing new pro bono requests and clients, ensuring appropriate risk and regulatory issues are considered and reviewed
- Liaising with internal stakeholders (e.g. pro bono champions) on finding volunteers for projects
- Coordinate strategic, cross-jurisdictional pro bono projects
- Assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting for internal stakeholders and external partners
- Assigning tasks and coordinating support from junior colleagues (e.g. trainees)
- Providing input on the strategy and continual improvement of the pro bono practice
The Successful Candidate
- 2/3 years+ experience of pro bono legal management.
- Track record in delivering projects and change ideally within professional services environment.
- Strong data analysis and management skills.
- Experience of working globally across multiple locations and with many stakeholders of different seniority.
- Strong project management experience with proven ability to manage multiple deliverables within a tight timeframe
- Strong awareness of the responsible business and access to justice agenda and relevance to the firm
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written, spoken and presentational with a demonstrated experience of delivering excellent levels of client service
- Ability to build strong business relationships with internal and external clients and excellent influencing and networking skills
- A confident, proactive individual prepared to take a hands-on approach to managing their workload using their own initiative
