We are seeking a Pro Bono Data & Reporting Specialist to join our Firm. This position will be based in any one of our U.S. offices and has a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.  In this position, you will work in partnership with Skadden's Chief Pro Bono Officer, the pro bono department, as well as other departments, to support Skadden's pro bono initiatives. The main objective of the role is to assist with pulling, organizing, and analyzing data and generating reports on Skadden’s pro bono efforts and assisting with special projects. The Pro Bono Data & Reporting Specialist will leverage data to help the pro bono team measure, demonstrate, and communicate regarding the activities and impact of Skadden’s pro bono program. The Pro Bono Data & Reporting Specialist is expected to perform the following responsibilities while demonstrating a commitment to providing superior service to Skadden's attorneys, business services professionals, external clients and legal services organizations. Please note that the Firm will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position. 

Key responsibilities

  • Supports the pro bono team in preparing various pro bono reports and statistics for internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Serves as the key information source for regular and ad hoc reporting of pro bono metrics.
  • Assists with the preparation of responses to auditors, legal services organizations, and non-profit clients about hours and expenses related to pro bono matters. 
  • Serves as a point of contact for attorney requests to generate reports of hours related to voluntary pro bono legal services when re-registering with the O.C.A. and affidavits in connection with seeking admission to the NY Bar.
  • Produces reports and analytical tools to monitor and track the Firm’s special pro bono initiatives.
  • Generates routine reports to inform Firm leadership on key metrics and the impact of ongoing pro bono work.
  • Coordinates with other departments to prepare data-driven content for use in marketing and business development efforts, including client pitches.
  • Creates and maintains uniform processes for capturing and tracking data related to corporate client partnerships and pro bono clinics.
  • Maintains records of firmwide requests for attorney fee recoveries in litigation matters.
  • Provides data-driven support to the pro bono team related to the onboarding of summer associates, new associates and lateral hires.
  • Leverages pro bono data as a strategic tool to assess and communicate the impact of pro bono initiatives.
  • Identities inefficiencies and recommends data-driven solutions.

The Successful Candidate 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current social justice issues and best practices
  • Ability to extract insights from complex datasets.
  • Ability to translate data into compelling narratives for various stakeholders
  • Ability to draft concise, impactful reports and presentations.
  • Ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in data tracking and reporting
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and in writing; highly responsive

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
