This session will feature a practical, skills-based training on completing applications for tax exemption status under Section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance, led by Yan Zeng and Chris Kung of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.

Designed for lawyers taking on pro bono matters supporting charities in Hong Kong, the session will cover:

• Key legal principles relating to Hong Kong charities
• The different legal forms that charities can take
• Practical tips for preparing and completing Section 88 applications
• The Inland Revenue Department’s review process, including common enquiries and case studies
• The IRD’s ongoing review of charities’ tax exemption status

The session will conclude with an opportunity for Q&A.

Attendees may be eligible to receive CPD points.
