The GPIL International Law in Practice Intensive Program (“GPIL Summer Intensive Program”) provides a hybrid (i.e., both in-person and remote) experiential learning opportunity designed to advance practical understanding of public interest lawyering in public international law. In 2025, the GPIL Summer Intensive Program will be offered from 28 July to 02 August in The Hague (Netherlands), known as the “City of Peace and Justice” as it features a range of core institutions in public international law from the International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court to international organizations such as the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
The GPIL Summer Intensive Program is designed to provide a high-level introduction to public international law as a foundational framework for pursuing practical legal innovation and advocacy in the public interest for dedicated legal professionals and others seeking to develop their personal or firm pro bono and public interest legal practices in public international law alongside current employment, established legal practices, or family obligations. Lawyers from across the global legal profession—public, private, and nonprofit sectors as well as legal academia—may benefit from participation in the GPIL Program, which this year features participating faculty hailing from the following institutions or organizations:
