Across Asia and the Pacific populations are increasingly living in dangerous and unstable circumstances that threaten life and liberty, ranging from natural disasters, attacks on the media and freedom of expression, and socio-political threats to vulnerable communities. The first Asia Pro Bono Roundtable of 2024 will explore the crucial role of pro bono in the Asia Pacific region in upholding the rule of law in response to these unfolding crises. Through the experience of our consortium members and participating law firms, a range of ways in which the pro bono community can respond to crises will be explored.

A plenary discussion will be followed by breakout groups focused on:

  1. natural disasters,
  2. socio-political crises, and
  3. threats to freedom of expression. We look forward to this opportunity to share insights and  pro bono best practice in times of crisis.

This webinar is organised by A4ID, the Australian Pro Bono Centre, Babseacle, the Center for Reproductive Rights, the Center for Law and Transformative Change, the Global Pro Bono Bar Association, GongGam, iProbono, International Bridges to Justice, Legal Empowerment Network, PILnet, Pro Bono SG, Thomson Reuters Foundation and UNDP.
